Mid North Christian College

Since 2005 the Sir Ross and Sir Keith Smith Fund (Smith Fund) has provided sponsorship funding to Mid North Christian College for the development of an Aviation Pathways Program. Secondary students from the College and other schools around South Australia participate in the Aviation Studies course which incorporates the following:

  • Aviation Engineering (restoration of an Aero 45 aircraft)
  • Flying (students experience at least one hour of flying each term)
  • Theory (studying Basic Aeronautical Knowledge)

The Aviation Pathways Program has also been approved by the Senior Secondary Assessment Board of South Australia.

On November 12 2009, the Mid North Christian College held an Aviation Studies Open Day for the general public.
Members of the Smith Fund Advisory Committee travelled from Parafield Airport to Port Pirie for the Open Day.
